Islamabad: 18th June 2025: As preparations intensify for the 14th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting in July, Pakistan and China are broadening the scope of collaboration under CPEC Phase-II — with a new emphasis on media exchanges, cultural partnerships, and digital engagement to connect minds and narratives across borders.
New proposals include:
i) Exchange programs for journalists, content creators & influencers
ii) Wider distribution of Chinese content dubbed in English and Urdu via OTT platforms
iii) A joint digital storytelling initiative to strengthen public understanding of CPEC
This innovative direction aims to bridge cultural gaps and foster people-to-people connectivity, especially among youth — making CPEC not just a corridor of economic cooperation, but also of ideas, stories, and shared aspirations.
The initiative was advanced during a high-level meeting hosted at the CPEC Centre in Islamabad, where senior officials from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation.
The luncheon was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary alongside Minister for Information & Broadcasting, Ataullah Tarar. The Chinese delegation was led by Mr. Hu Zhaoming, Spokesperson of the IDCPC, with support from senior diplomats of the Chinese Embassy.
The meeting also set the stage for greater inter-agency collaboration between the Planning Commission, Ministry of Information, and China’s International Department, with valuable inputs from stakeholders including PIDE and the CPEC Secretariat.
